It has been just over a year since I launched Kacao Chocolaterie and what an incredible journey I have been on.
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year as it has gone by so quickly but I have learned so much in that time. It was a huge decision to step out on my own, completely changing direction – I was planning on going to university but I knew I need to follow my passion and instead enrolled in an intense chocolate workshop.
I think entrepreneurship is in the family DNA, my dad runs his own company so he was very supportive and encouraging of my dream – and I always have willing volunteers to be my taste testers.
There has been so many milestones – opening the shop in January, adding to my collection, being recognised by Great Taste Awards and DeliciouslyYorkshire and most recently hiring my first employee. It has not been without its challenges and there has been some all-nighters in the workshop until it felt like chocolate was coming out my ears.
Above all the stress, it’s a genuine joy to see the reaction my chocolates have on people. The feedback and reviews have been incredible and really gives me the strength and determination to keep creating and developing chocolates for my customers to enjoy. I can’t wait to see what the next year has instore.
